At Hiking and Adventures in the PNW, we are passionate about the pursuit of adventure and experiencing the great outdoors with our friends and family. As a non-profit organization, we understand the importance of fostering community and providing an authentic, personalized experience.  With our motto of "Getting off the Couch" our team strives to educate and inspire to get outside.  Our team is made up of outdoor enthusiasts who share a passion for exploring the PNW, design, sailing, skiing, and creating unique adventures.

Carrie loves design and the outdoors, where David is a survivalist and shares her outdoor passion.  Together, coming from different backgrounds, they learned to sail the Pacific Northwest waters and hike mountains all across the region.  Carrie and David decided to pursue a dream that aligned with shared passions of being outside, volunteering in our local community, and helping others experience the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.   Paying it forward is important to us so we partner with local school districts to focus on kids in need and inspire.  We regularly host hiking events on our Facebook page for free.

BACKPACK FOR KIDS PROGRAM

We work with our local school districts to identify a need. We provide a hiking day backpack, hiking snacks, tips and tricks to get started, and two of the 10 essentials required to inspire.  We personalize the daypack based on the school councilors request.  We strive to add the full 10 essentials for each child once once we are able to raise enough funds.  We are currently looking at options to work with local school districts additionally to help inspire parents and children to partner and "get outside."

David Ortmann

Welcome to Hiking and Adventures in the PNW! My name is David Ortmann, and I’m thrilled to offer you the chance to explore some of the most breathtaking hiking trails and adventures in the Pacific Northwest. As a manager in Aerospace, an avid survivalist, and sailor, I’ve spent much of my life exploring the great outdoors and helping others achieve their goals.  In the last three years I've lost 70lbs and have maintained it due to my mantra of "getting off the couch".  I've dedicated the majority of my life to giving back to my community through the local Mukilteo Little League and transforming the softball program.  I’ve traveled far and wide, and I can’t wait to show you what the Pacific Northwest has to offer.  Let's get off the couch.

After working in the financial industry for over a decade working in different variations of the field, I decided to branch out and pursue my passions to help inspire.   I'm now following my passions of adventure, clothing design, exploring, and inspiring others.  For years, I dedicated my life to raising my two children, Cynthia and John, volunteering at different organizations such as a board member for the Habitat for Humanity, Rotary Board, Hydros for Heroes, and others to make a special impact in my community. While I was apart of my local rotary club, they inspired me to volunteer for a backpack for kids program.  I redesigned this program to inspire and encourage outdoor activity and create healthy environments. Today, I continue that tradition with a compete program around this cause.
